Christianity, Catholicism, and the Marginalizing of the Enneagram

Who knew that Religion would get so mixed up in a bit of Enneagram study?

It seems that the Catholic religion deems the Enneagram something of an occult practice. It is grouped in with telepathy and astrology, which, if you know anything about Modern Catholicism, you’ll know is bad.

But haven’t we all been to an Enneagram Retreat here or there that took place at a Catholic place of worship? I know I have on a few occasions.

If you want to read a bit about why the Enneagram is considered such a bad thing, you can read the opinion of a Saint right here.

The Church has always been against systems that are as powerful as itself or could potentially break the Bonds of Guilt it has built over the lives of it’s congregation.

What do you think?

  • I had trouble finding the link to what some saint said about the enneagram. The link was to some very right wing catholics ‘watch-do’ organizations, priests and what they managed to get passed by the US Council of Bishops.

Did you know that a Roman Catholic bishop in good standing contributed to a book on the Enneagram? Tolomeo, Diane, Pearl Gervais, and Remi J. De Roo Biblical Characters and the Enneagram: Images of Transformation (Newport Bay Publishing Limited, 2001).

Just glad that those fires once used to punish those who strayed have been extinguished although the under lying witch hunt persists in some quarters.
